A Living Landscape

When we first began in 2005, Vanashree was an open eight-acre landscape with just four trees. Today, it has grown into a thriving ecosystem with over 4,500 trees representing more than 150 species, alongside seasonal fruits, vegetables, cereals, herbs and native plants.

The farm has been thoughtfully designed around the principles of sustainable and integrated farming, where trees, crops and animals work together as a balanced ecosystem. We follow low-cost, sustainable practices.

As the landscape has flourished, so has its biodiversity. Indigenous Malenadu Gidda and Hallikar cattle, free-ranging poultry and goats are an integral part of the farm, while a growing variety of birds, butterflies and other wildlife have made Vanashree their home.

Sustainability extends beyond farming. Rainwater harvesting, water conservation, biogas for cooking and solar energy help us reduce our environmental footprint and demonstrate practical ways of living in harmony with nature.

Vanashree is more than a farm—it is a continuing journey in ecological restoration, sustainable living and learning from nature. Every tree planted and every species that returns reminds us that when we nurture the land, it rewards us many times over.
